Sipapu Ski Season Opens November 11 - Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort
Posted Aug 25, 2017
New Mexico’s ski season begins Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 with the opening of Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort. Sipapu is known to be the first resort in the state to open and seeks to own this honor for the 15th consecutive season.
This summer, Sipapu’s mountain team has been preparing for the winter season. Expansion and renovation of the historic lodge will be completed by this winter. Construction is on schedule for a winter opening of the 2,141 square foot addition on the west side, including the new Rental Shop, Ticket Office, restrooms, locker room, and gathering space. Sipapu’s crews continue to perform routine maintenance on all of its lifts, snowcats, and snowmaking system and will be ready to start the season come November 11! Sipapu typically begins snowmaking around the middle of October, weather permitting.
“Our entire team at Sipapu is excited for ski season to begin,” stated John Paul Bradley, mountain manager at Sipapu Ski Resort. “The expansion and renovation of Sipapu’s Lodge will improve our guest experience by enhancing the overall flow in base area and allowing them more time on the slopes.”
Sipapu continues its commitment to enhancing its ability to teach others how to ski and snowboard, and is improving the popular ski school magic carpet while also widening the intermediate trail, “Beep Beep.”
