Music From Angel Fire 2017 Season - Music From Angel Fire

The "Around the World" theme sets the tone for the 34th season of Music from Angel Fire Summer Music Festival. The two-week festival offers sixteen concerts featuring world-class musicians performing chamber and classical music. The Festival is a touring organization serving the rural Northern New Mexico Rocky Mountain communities of Angel Fire, Taos, Raton and Las Vegas.

The 2017 concert schedule is:

August 18, 7pm - Opening Night Concert - France
Angel Fire Community Center
The 2017 Summer Festival opening night concert kicks off the festival’s Around the World theme:
  FAURÉ Quartet in G Minor for Piano and Strings, Op. 45
  RAVEL Selections from Le Tombeau de Couperin arranged for Woodwind Quintet
  POULENC Sextour for Winds and Piano, Op. 100

August 19, 5pm - The Brass Project
Taos Plaza
A free concert showcasing one of MFAF’s Young Artist ensembles.

August 19, 7pm - TCA Opening Night Concert - England
Taos Community Auditorium
Stay after the concert, mingle with the musicians, and meet the 2017 program book cover artist, Loretta LaMothe. Appetizers and dessert will be served. Wine, beer and soft drinks will be available for purchase.

August 20, 7pm - Musical Conversations I: Italian Baroque
United Church of Angel Fire
This concert contains a 30-minute lecture/demo followed by the performance.

  LOCATELLI Sonata in C for Flute and Continuo, Op. 2, No. 1
  FARINA Capriccio Stravagante for Strings and Harpsichord

August 22, 5:30pm Dinner, 7:30pm Performance - VIVA POPS! LET'S TANGO
Old Martina's Restaurant and Hall, Ranchos de Taos
Show your support for music in northern New Mexico. This elegant evening includes dinner buffet, wine, silent auction, wine pull and spectacular entertainment featuring Imani Winds, the only full-time touring American wind quintet.
Program to be announced from the stage including Kenji Bunch’s “Shout Chorus” and tangos by Piazzolla and Stravinsky.
