Posted Mar 31, 2018
Discover New Mexico this summer with Heritage Inspirations Tours, providing hand-crafted, all-inclusive guided experiences highlighting New Mexico's culture, art, and heritage. Meet the people and their stories, the history and their voices behind it, the cultural sites and the traditions, as well as an insight to the diversity of adventurous landscape and natural wonders.
The following day trips all offer a fun day exploring the Taos area with the extra bonus of wine tasting at Vivac Winery at the end of your day. Each of these tours start and end at El Monte Sagrado Resort in Taos, NM.
Taos Hiking & Wine Tasting Adventure
One of the most iconic parts about Taos is the Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument. Exploring and hiking down into the gorge of the Rio Grande offers a truly dynamic experience. This 2.5 miles round trip hiking tour is highlighted with breathtaking views of what is known as the Box Canyon. Surrounded by 2.8 to 4.8 million year old basalt adorned with juniper, piñon, and sagebrush, learn about the geological forces that etched this land. Enjoy a pack lunch perched listening to the sound of the river in this timeless setting.
Following the hike, enjoy a local wine tasting at Vivac Winery to top off this adventurous excursion! Click here for more info and to reserve this tour.
Taos Stand-Up Paddle Board & Hiking Adventure + Wine Tasting Tour
Journey from Taos on a scenic shuttle into the Rio Grande Gorge where we meet our New Mexico River Adventures Guide. A carefully selected section of river will offer you an unforgettable experience; mild to wild, the choice is yours. Kayak to your lunch destination and enjoy a delicious, gourmet picnic lunch riverside within the chiseled basalt canyon walls shaping the valley to refresh and rejuvenate before your hike in the monument.
After lunch, we travel up the canyon to our trailhead at La Vista Verde Trail, catching views of the famous Taos Box. Hike a 2-1/2 mile round-trip hike at 6,400 feet with breathtaking scenery along the way. And to finish off the day and treat ourselves after a great hike, we’ll shuttle southward along the Rio Grande to the Vivác Winery for a local tasting, which includes your choice of a glass of wine, a pint of beer, or a pint of local cider. High Road Artisan + Wine Tasting Tour
This tour journeys on the historic High Road affording incredible views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains along the way. This road has a string of small 400-year-old mountain villages known for local artisans and craftspeople. Visit the gorgeous San Jose de Gracia de Las Trampas church, an artist's gallery in the village of Truchas, and visit with a local artist in their studio and workshop. We then drive to the quaint town of Dixon on to Vivac Winery to enjoy a wine tasting at one of the only vineyards that is 100% New Mexico grown grapes. Your tasting is complimented with a delicious pairing picnic lunch overlooking the vineyards. Follow the scenic Rio Grande route back into Taos. Click here for more info and to reserve this tour.
Another tour we are proud to offer is the Taos Artisan Walking Tour of the town's historic district and art galleries. This tour offers either a treat of a chocolate elixir at Chokola Bean-to-Bar on Thursdays tour or a Wine Tasting on Fridays tour at The Anaconda Bar at El Monte Sagrado. For more info click here.
